The National Democratic Institute [NDI] carried out a two days Capacity Building Training on Voter Education for staff of Community Links and Human Empowerment Initiative [CLHEI] and Camp Chairmen from 12 Internally Displaced Persons [IDPs] Camps across the state. This training is aimed at building CLHEI’s knowledge on Voter Education to conduct a V.E campaign for IDPs ahead of the 2019 general elections. ‘Get-Out-The-Vote campaign’ (GOTV campaign).
Civic and Voter Education is a major component of the electoral process.
Among the presenters was Dr. Nentawe G. Yilwatda Benue State Resident Electoral Commissioner who gave an in-depth on the entire electoral process and the IDP framework regarding the 2019 general elections. The framework is a designed by INEC to ensure that everyone votes including the IDPs in accordance with International standards. The workshop was an interactive one and IDP reps were given the opportunity to air out their views, fears and challenges regarding the forth coming elections.
