Today we join the world to celebrate the 1st ever International Day Of Education with the theme ‘EDUCATION FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT’, education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility. Nigeria currently has more than 10 million out of school children, majority of which are of primary school age. Community links and human empowerment initiative (CLHEI) has taken the responsibility to give special attention to internally displaced persons at NEPA Qtrs. Camp Makurdi by engaging children on the camp with a free teaching programme, though it is not a complete school with an organized curriculum, we strive to teach the basics in general subjects taken in regular schools throughout the week.
The United Nations has launched a campaign on #Righttoeducation, this aims to bring global awareness of this crucial human right which is still not a reality for millions, and empower young people and adults to bring about change in their communities.
Now the question is “WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR YOUR COMMUNITY?”
